Google employee John Mueller shared on Twitter important information for site owners. The post talks about the fact that deleting the HTTP version of a resource leads to the deletion from the index and all other versions (HTTP / HTTPS / www / non-www).
He also drew the attention of subscribers to the fact that the URL removal tool should not be used for canonicalization.
There is an assumption that the publication of this tweet is a consequence of the recent drop from the Google index of the main domain of the social network LinkedIn. At the moment, it remains unknown what actually caused the de-indexing, but according to one of the opinions, this could have led to the deletion of the HTTP version of the site in Search Console.
