Over the years in SEO, I have conducted a huge number of site audits, both full paid and free. My experience allows us to assert that the mistakes that the owners of the resources make about the promotion are of the same type.

Mistake 1. Over-optimization of keys on the page
I often come across how site owners, for the sake of economy, see enough free or cheap courses, for example, from Markin or Shulga, and begin to implement their methods on their website. Sometimes this works, but more often than not, it is overspam.
After such edits, the high positions of the site, if any, fall. The owner of the resource, in confusion, further aggravates the situation – for example, he starts buying a large number of anchor keys.
It is important to understand that both one and the other “teachers” are undeniably good fellows, but blindly repeating after them is wrong.
What to do… Key phrases need to be embedded on the page, but it is important not to forget to control the key density so that the percentage does not go off scale. It is recommended to analyze competitors and calculate their average percentage of key / whose density on the page. Only after that, key phrases should be implemented on your page.
As practice shows, in most cases, the ideal ratio of the key density on the page is from 2.5 to 5%, depending on the topic and competition. Anything more, in 90% of cases – SPAM.
To check the density of keywords, you can use special services, for example, Advego, Sbup, Istio and others.
Mistake 2. Buying links
No matter what anyone says, links are important for both Google and Yandex. The only difference is the ratio of importance.
Search engines have repeatedly said that it is not the number of links on the page that matters, but their quality. I still don’t understand why many site owners are so dismissive of this. One of the factors is saving money, but, as practice shows, such savings do not lead to anything good.
Now many sites have raised the prices for links, which is why buyers began to look for cheaper options. And the cheapest are not the highest quality ones. As a result, it turns out that the number of inbound links to the site is growing, but due to their low quality, the resource, at least, does not receive anything from the SEO point of view, as a maximum, it falls under the sanctions.
It is also worth mentioning that many in 2021 buy massively anchor links, which also negatively affects the promotion of the site as a whole.
What to do… I, like many others, believe that the ratio of anchor links should not exceed 30-40%, the rest of the links should be non-anchor. Also, you shouldn’t buy one type of links, for example in articles. It is better to dilute them with links from forums, and if you have a commercial project, then from regional directories.
Mistake 3. The presence of duplicate pages
Many are accustomed to posting unique articles by ordering them from copywriters. And it is right. But not all site owners check the uniqueness of site pages among themselves.
I often come across the fact that different pages of the same site have a uniqueness of 40% or less. When checking, it turns out that some of the duplicates are texts in different forms, hints, etc.
On the one hand, the search engine needs to understand that this is technical content and not rate it the same way as the main content. But in practice, things are a little different. Duplicate content plays a role in the final page rating, which means it negatively affects the promotion.
What to do… I advise you to hide such content through Java or try to uniqueize it.

In this article, I have listed frequently recurring mistakes that I meet in practice. Naturally, it is worth remembering that each project is unique, therefore, each site may have its own set of “problems”.
